Wasatch Front Football League
The Wasatch Front Football Leaue (WFFL) provides an opportunity for youth ages 8-15 from Smithfield to Farmington to participate in tackle football. The following communities (franchises) provide the opportunity for youth to play. Smithfield, Logan, Hyrum, Bear River, Brigham City, North Ogden, Plain City, Ogden, Ogden Valley, Roy, Washington Terrace, South Ogden, South Weber, Morgan, Layton, Hill AFB, Clearfield, Sunset, Syracuse, Kaysville, and Farmington.
The league is divided into divisions by weight and age. Each of the divisions is divided into North, South, East, and West areas. The season begins in late July or early August. It starts with one week of conditioning without uniforms and teams are not allowed to have organized practice. The only equipment allowed is footballs. The second and third weeks are spent in uniforms preparing for the first game. Practices are limited to 1 and 1/2 hours, 5 days each week. After the first game, teams are allowed only 4 days of practice each week. After 7 weeks there are playoffs and ultimately two teams from each division meet in the minibowl.
The Wasatch Front Football League is one of the largest in the United States. With over 40 years in existence, this program is still in existence because people care about the youth of today.
Open letter from the WFFL Officers to PARENTS:
It is a grand opportunity for us to be involved with the WFFL and to try to insure that all our children have a positive and fair experience in this great team sport.
Each of us donates our time and energy to run activities each week. We do not believe that winning is the essence of this program. “Winning at any cost” is not even in our vocabulary. Parents, you can help. Please maintain control during the game. Don’t berate officials. Don’t taunt opposing fans or players. Be positive with your kids, even in defeat. They can learn so much from you, good or bad, depending on your behavior.
We thank you again for your support of this great youth adventure.
